2008-12-01 09:27 <cristi> hi again
2008-12-01 09:27 <cristi> this time from ubuntu :)
2008-12-01 09:28 <udono> cristi: hi
2008-12-01 09:28 <cristi> i stayed last night until 5 to instal ubuntu on a computer with vista preisntalled :)
2008-12-01 09:29 <cristi> things have eveolved a lot until i had my last linux intalation :)
2008-12-01 09:29 <udono> and did you get the double-boot?
2008-12-01 09:29 <cristi> yes :)
2008-12-01 09:29 <cristi> even triple boot :)
2008-12-01 09:29 <udono> cristi: great.
2008-12-01 09:29 <cristi> i have 2 kernels and vista...
2008-12-01 09:29 <cristi> now i read how to remove one of them ..the old one
2008-12-01 09:30 <cristi> do you know by chance how much space does occupy...an extra kernel ?
2008-12-01 09:30 <cristi> since i had limited space for my ubuntu 20 GB
2008-12-01 09:31 <cristi> i hope for start it will be enough ...
2008-12-01 09:31 <udono> cristi: some megabyte. I think 20 GB will be enough.
2008-12-01 09:32 <udono> cristi: 20GB for one partition or on divided partitions for /home /boot /var /user...?
2008-12-01 09:34 <cristi> for all :(
2008-12-01 09:34 <cristi> is that so bad ?
2008-12-01 09:35 -!- bechamel(n=user@host-213-213-252-112.brutele.be) has joined #tryton
2008-12-01 09:36 <udono> cristi: no, for beginner its good. Your next design of a linux box I would suggest several partitions. But first you need to learn about how much spave you need for your individual installation.
2008-12-01 09:36 <udono> s/spave/space/
2008-12-01 09:37 <cristi> i read that is batter to have separate partitons.
2008-12-01 09:38 <cristi> my next desing will be on a machine exclusive for linux
2008-12-01 09:38 <cristi> soon
2008-12-01 09:38 <cristi> s/spave/space/ ???
2008-12-01 09:39 <udono> ACTION s/spave/space/ := search "spave" replace with "space" in the last post...
2008-12-01 09:42 <cristi> i cant find that location
2008-12-01 09:42 <cristi> s/space/space/
2008-12-01 09:49 <udono> cristi: it's a misspelling in my last chat text (see above) that I corrected.
2008-12-01 09:50 <udono> cristi: It has no meaning for your Linux installation...
2008-12-01 09:51 <cristi> indeed
2008-12-01 09:51 <cristi> i just searched...:)
2008-12-01 09:51 <udono> :-)

2008-12-01 09:59 <CIA-54> tryton: udono roundup * #631/Account invoice: After cancel payment, can't any more pay the invoice: I try with a new database.
2008-12-01 09:59 <cedk> udono: we must find the issue in your current database!
2008-12-01 10:00 <udono> cedk: ok
2008-12-01 10:00 <cedk> udono: if it is a problem of configuration, we must improve the error message
2008-12-01 10:00 <udono> cedk: I have a router without access between us.
2008-12-01 10:01 <udono> cedk: maybe with a tunnel?
2008-12-01 10:01 <cedk> udono: or send me a dump of the database
2008-12-01 10:01 <udono> cedk: ok
2008-12-01 10:01 <cedk> udono: on which version do you run?
2008-12-01 10:02 <cristi> newbie question : "$ sudo apt-get install python2.5 python-psycopg2 python-lxml " means install python 2.5 and ? ? some additional packages ?
2008-12-01 10:03 <cedk> cristi: yes
2008-12-01 10:03 <cristi> psy ? and lxml ? whwre can i foid despiptions about them
2008-12-01 10:03 <cristi> are those like some additional jar;s in java ?
2008-12-01 10:04 <cedk> cristi: psycopg2 is the library to access postgresql
2008-12-01 10:04 <cristi> i am asking for similarities
2008-12-01 10:04 <cedk> cristi: lxml is a xml parser
2008-12-01 10:04 <cristi> like the jdbc driver and some xml parser jar
2008-12-01 10:04 <cristi> driver library i meant
2008-12-01 10:05 <cristi> if you know java...otherwise you can;t asnwer to my comparsions...:)
2008-12-01 10:05 <cedk> udono: make a dump with the client
2008-12-01 10:06 <cedk> cristi: yes if you want
2008-12-01 10:07 <cristi> i hope i do not disturb you that much....
2008-12-01 10:07 <cristi> asnswer plz when you can....
2008-12-01 10:09 <udono> cedk: cannot make with the client. But did it with --format=c
2008-12-01 10:09 <cedk> udono: why?
2008-12-01 10:11 <udono> cedk: because the client just call 'pg_dump --format=c ...'
2008-12-01 10:11 <udono> cedk: I dislike database maintenance from the client.
2008-12-01 10:14 <cristi> what this means "if you want to use the forest extension (recommended)"
2008-12-01 10:16 <cedk> udono: ok for production, but with test
2008-12-01 10:16 <cedk> cristi: it is an extention for mercurial that simplify the update of the repositories
2008-12-01 10:18 <cristi> thx
2008-12-01 10:18 <cedk> udono: still nothing

2008-12-01 10:28 <cedk> udono: ok
2008-12-01 10:29 <cristi> workspace is a directory that i should create somewhere or is a directory already created on a linux distibution (do not laught :) )
2008-12-01 10:29 <cristi> in windows the dev has to create such things....
2008-12-01 10:31 <cedk> udono: I can not restore it
2008-12-01 10:31 <cedk> udono: make a dump with the client
2008-12-01 10:32 <cedk> udono: or a text dump
2008-12-01 10:33 <udono> cedk: ok
2008-12-01 10:35 <cedk> cristi: create it where you want
2008-12-01 10:35 <cedk> cristi: generally, it is in you home
2008-12-01 10:36 <cristi> i understand
2008-12-01 10:39 <udono> cedk: what did I need in gg_hba.conf to use the client backup function? I have local all all trust
2008-12-01 10:42 <cedk> udono: normally nothing

2008-12-01 11:52 <cristi> Mercurial's decentralized development model can be confusing to new users. This page attempts to illustrate some of the basic concepts
2008-12-01 11:52 <cristi> so they start with a very true sentence :)

2008-12-01 18:34 <sctmyr> Hi- I want to check out your reporting system. Not happy with tiny's. I've got tryton 1.1.0 server running. I can even get database initialized with -d tryton1 -i all.  Client is another matter.
2008-12-01 18:34 <sctmyr> 1.1.0 client gives a "list index out of range" error which can be clicked thru. But "Connect" button never becomes active; database pulldown is empty.  I try also to create database from client: default language pulldown is empty and "Create" button never becomes active. I've tried also tryton-1.0.0.exe with similar results.
2008-12-01 18:34 <sctmyr> Is there a tryton-1.1.0.exe somewhere? Other advice?
2008-12-01 18:35 <cedk> sctmyr: 1.1.0 is developpement branch

2008-12-01 19:22 <sctmyr> Ok. Now using tryton 1.0.1 at server and at client. Hasn't helped. Still no active "Connect" button on Connect dialog. Still no active "Create" button on create new database dialog.
2008-12-01 19:23 <sctmyr> Server does see and log every client connection, but the client's connection dialog insists "Databases: Could not connect to Server".
2008-12-01 19:23 <sctmyr> Is there a /etc/trytond.conf option to control connections from remote hosts?
2008-12-01 19:23 <cedk> sctmyr: the client don't see the server
2008-12-01 19:24 <sctmyr> But the server sees the client. ?

2008-12-01 19:26 <cedk> sctmyr: do you start the server with -v
2008-12-01 19:27 <sctmyr> I just restarted with -v. Server provides no additional detail about connection.
2008-12-01 19:28 <cedk> sctmyr: did it can connect to postgresql?

2008-12-01 19:31 <sctmyr> I just "create database tryton2;" on postgres then server.py -d tryton2 -i all and it connected to postgres and populated the new tryton2 database just fine.

2008-12-01 19:38 <yangoon> sctmyr: try another way:
2008-12-01 19:38 <yangoon> sctmyr: create tryton user on database with create permissions (probably you have already)
2008-12-01 19:39 <yangoon> then from the client connect to tryton server and let it create the database, don't do it yourself on postgres
2008-12-01 19:40 <yangoon> sctmyr: this will result in a database with owner tryton (or whatever you chose) and the set of basic tables
2008-12-01 19:41 <sctmyr> yangoon: No, i told /etc/trytond.conf to login to postgres as an administrative user. But I will try your suggestion now. Thanks.
2008-12-01 19:41 <yangoon> sctmyr: after that you can do the .../trytond/bin/trytond -i all
2008-12-01 19:42 <yangoon> sctmyr: you cannot configure the postgres user from trytond.conf
2008-12-01 19:43 <cedk> sctmyr: the user that is used by trytond to connect to the database server, must own the database
2008-12-01 19:43 <yangoon> sctmyr: you just put there the user you have configured in postgres, with psql, pgadmin, whatever...

2008-12-01 20:20 <sctmyr> cedk: Your demo server works nicely. Your .odt based reporting seems to work, and work pretty fast considering it's on another continent. But I want to dig into the code and do some profiling and stress testing on your use of relatorio/henshi. For that I will need to get my own server running. But that will need to happen another day. Sorry I have been a bother, I hate to waste developer time.
