grasbauerhi - is there an option to avoid the localized formatting of integer fields? I dont wanna show the thousand separator in a special field ...10:43

cedkgrasbauer: where?11:43
grasbauercedk: in the client11:44
cedkgrasbauer: no11:47
grasbauercedk: ok11:47
cedkgrasbauer: except changing the language parameters11:47
grasbauercedk: and changing the widget?11:48

cedkgrasbauer: no11:48
grasbauercedk: ok11:49
yangoon1grasbauer: if you don't want the thousands separator this culd be a hint, that you want char instead if integer :P11:50
cedkof course, you can use a Function field to format the integer into char and display it11:52

grasbauercedk, yangoon1: the issue - we are displaying an ID in the client - its a integer. I was witness of the following dialog in the office of a client: Your ID is 1 Point 2 3 4 ;)12:25
grasbauercedk, yangoon1: not a big issue ...12:25
cedkgrasbauer: displaying ID is always bad12:26
cedkgrasbauer: you should consider to use a code like on party12:26
grasbauercedk: its an ID of an external service - it's an integer12:27
cedkgrasbauer: so nothing prevent to store it as a char12:28
yangoongrasbauer: I assumed something like that, so either you can cast it or display via function field (like cedk propsal)12:29
cedkas it comes from external data source, better to use a data type that has less constraint12:29
grasbauercedk: no - but it is integer ;)12:29
cedkgrasbauer: don't see the point to store it as integer12:29
yangoongrasbauer: there are often cases where integer is misused12:30
grasbauercedk: the only one is that the widget don't except chars - so we don't need to check this programmaticly12:30
cedkgrasbauer: which widget?12:31
grasbauercedk: fields.Integer12:31
cedkgrasbauer: why do you want to check validatity about external data?12:32
cedkgrasbauer: you can not assume constraint of others programs12:32
grasbauercedk: because it is possible to change the value of this field to change a reference to the external system. so we desided to use field.Integer because that value is always and for anytime an integer. but we can use a char and check this in tryton ....12:34
cedkgrasbauer: I think it is a wrong assumption to assume external system data constraints12:36
grasbauercedk: may be - but I don't know if it is good to store numeric values as chars only to get a other formatting12:39
cedkgrasbauer: not it is about storing external data in the less constraint format12:40
grasbauercedk: that's possibly right ...12:41
cedkgrasbauer: indeed a binary blob will be the best12:44

fabrizio_goo afternoon to all. Am having troubles installing tryton on debian jessie. All the packages have been installed. I have setup trytond.conf with parameters for my postgres DB. I can connect and the database gets created. The problem is that I end up with a blank screen on the client. Nothing strange in the logs too. Any suggestion?16:19

nicoefabrizio_: no message anywhere ?16:36
fabrizio_yep. Basically everything seems to work ok. I can connect but the I end up with the main window with only the top menu..16:37
nicoeNo menu on the left?16:38
fabrizio_exactly. According to docs, once db is created there should be a module wizard that starts up16:38
nicoeIn the server logs can you see that you're logged in?16:39
fabrizio_INFO:dispatcher:successful login 'admin' from ::1:50601 using JSON-RPC on database 'tryton'16:40

quilirofirst of all I would like to thank all of you guys and gals for putting freedom first20:15
quilirothat is the reason I chose Tryton over OpenERP20:16
quiliroI could not ask any question without remarking this important issue20:17
quiliroI have installed Tryton on Parabola20:17
quiliroit is a GNU distro that contains only free software20:18
quiliroit is based on Archlinux20:19
quiliroThe installation went without errors20:19
quilirobut i don't know how to use it20:20
quiliroI could not find it in the documentation20:22
quilirofound it! http://code.google.com/p/tryton/wiki/SetupAndStart20:43
