MarleyxHello everybody!15:08
wifasoihello, to you and everybody.15:09
MarleyxI have a controversy and i would comment with the community of tryton15:10
MarleyxI'm member of Freedomcoop.eu, and the technical group of Fair.coop made https://market.fair.coop under Odoo15:11
MarleyxI think that this is a mistake, but... what do you think ?15:12
MarleyxPlease, visit https://freedomcoop.eu/ and https://fair.coop/ and tell me what do you think about this movement15:13
Marleyxthanks so much15:13
wifasoiI'm trying to make a module for my hackerspace (unfortunally i'm the bookeeper/thresurer/accountant). I am trying to implement a "chart off account/type template". I started with the coockiecutter and shove the xml with my chart of account in it (and changed the tryton.cfg). But i have this error: https://pastebin.com/h5A0bBAt15:14
wifasoi(i added a portion of the xml file)15:14
nicoeHell Marleyx and wifasoi15:15
nicoe*Hello15:16
cedkwifasoi: it is probably an ordering issue15:16
cedkwifasoi: you must define record before using it as ref15:16
wifasoiok, make sense. Thanks15:17
nicoeMarleyx: your projects looks interesting I can understand why there is a controversy if the project has opted for odoo15:18

nicoeTryton has been built out of a desire to have a community instead of a company behind the software15:21
Marleyxnicoe: I just arrive to the team of fair.coop, but they are working in modules since two years... then it's not correct that I say to the team that they are in wrong way15:21
nicoeMarleyx: yep, on the other hand they've made this choice and I can totally understand that they don't want all their hard work questioned15:22
MarleyxIt's for this that I'm investigating15:22
nicoeMarleyx: it's almost an ethical question rather than a technical one: Do you want to spend a lot of time to switch to something more in line with your values or do you want to get things done and maybe never switch …15:23
wifasoifor a person who is switching  from gnucash to tryton ( i know, apple to oranges).... is very hard15:25
pokoliwifasoi: it's always hard to learn new systems :)15:27
pokoliwifasoi: and creating a chart of account's is one of the hardests ones15:27
wifasoilearn the new system was easy... crating the chart of accoun... ohh boy15:28
pokoliwifasoi: but tryton allos you to do more thinks than gnucash, specially if you develop your custom modules15:28
wifasoiand i'm an accountant fot an italian APS (assosiation, a no lucrative one)15:28
wifasoi*no.profit15:29
wifasoipokoli, yeah... that's is very nice indeed... <rant> i can't compile gnucash with python bindings... becouse resons (a very annoing bug)</rant>15:33
pokoliwifasoi: which modules have you tried? Tryton can change a lot depending on the activated modules15:35
Marleyxnicoe: thanks, is that I think, that this tools has to be totally gnu15:37
Marleyxlike gnuhealth15:37
wifasoii tried (and i think i will require) the sale/payment, and the "devaluations of goods" one (for stock goods). very basic and straight forward stuff15:39
wifasoii want try the new contract module... but first i need to compile the chart of account :)15:39
pokoliwifasoi: the account module contains a minimal chart of account for testing propouses15:40
pokoliwifasoi: so you can test with this chart (one account of each type) and then build the full chart of accounts15:40
pokoliwifasoi: I imagine you mean: sale_subscription module. Otherwise I will recomend you to have a look15:41
wifasoithe difficult module for me was/is the payment module.15:43
wifasoipokoli, if you have link to some slide in the matter, it would very helpfull :315:44
pokoliwifasoi: each module has it's own documentation: http://doc.tryton.org/4.4/modules/15:45
wifasoihehe, i did read that. Unfortunally not all modules are documented equally. But it's a start.15:51
wifasoipgdump/template + docker container = i can broke stuff.. and learn from it without worry :)15:56

pokoliwifasoi: that's the idea, to learn by breaking :)16:10
pokoliwifasoi: feel free to share your question here with us :)16:10

sisalpMarleyx: the point is interesting, and we meet the question on many "social" networks.16:45
sisalpMarleyx: many social businesses tend to appropriate efforts from a community and need a centralised platform ie uderisation.16:47
sisalpMarleyx: In that case proprietary or pseudo-open-source fits their strategy better than free software.16:48
sisalpMarleyx: People who really want to spread freedom, will take care that what they build can be replicated and used/improved/distributed by others16:49
sisalpMarleyx: In that case, Odoo is just not the right choice for them.16:50
