DocMorshi, is this an active channel?17:12
cedkDocMors: yes17:14
DocMorsgreat thanks17:14
DocMorsI have question that I can't really google or check the documentation because of a lack of distinguishing words17:15
DocMorsI managed to install server and a client on another machine but it keeps asking me for the password even though I'm certain that the password is correct.17:16
cedkDocMors: who is "it"?17:17
DocMorssorry the tryton-client app17:19
DocMors5.0.1717:20
DocMorsI'm on Ubuntu 20.0417:20
cedkDocMors: which login/password are you using?17:23
DocMorswell that is the sore point, I'm not even sure I'm doing this right. I use the database username and password17:25
cedkDocMors: no the client asks for the Tryton user and password not the database17:26
cedkDocMors: by default when the database is initialized trytond-admin ask you to define an admin password17:26
cedkso it is this password to use and the login admin17:27
DocMorsI just went into the table and saw the username to be admin ...17:28
DocMorscan I just chnage the password in postgres or is this the wrong approach?17:28
DocMorsbtw I'm in, thanks!17:29
DocMorsI'm afraid this is only the beginning. This is not selfexplanatory :)17:29
DocMorsOK the installation documentaion on the website was non existent but the forum was helpful. Is there a administrator quick start guide ?17:33
DocMorsactually both links on the offical page are broken17:34
pokoliDocMors: which links are broken?17:37
pokoliDocMors: there are some tutorials on the forum: https://discuss.tryton.org/c/howto/sysadmin/3317:37
pokolibut for sure we need more17:37
DocMorshang on I'll get them17:39
DocMorshttps://docs.tryton.org/projects/server/en/latest/topics/install.html17:39
DocMorsand the broken links are17:40
DocMors        http://setuptools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/easy_install.html17:40
DocMors        http://docs.python.org/inst/inst.html17:40
DocMorshttp://setuptools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/easy_install.html17:40
DocMorsright in the middle of the page17:40
pokoliDocMors: ohh yes, someone reported it on the forum recently but no body proposed a fix for it :(17:41
DocMorsyes made the setup more interesting17:41
DocMorsoh man this is good fun, I closed the client, installed the sales module, restarted the server, now I get incompatible version of the server17:46
pokoliDocMors: it seem you installed the sales module from the 5.8 series which is not compatible with the 5.0 series you are using17:48
pokoliDocMors: probably installing the 5.8 series sales module installed the 5.8 series server, so it should work if you use the 5.8 client on them17:49
pokoliDocMors: you can see the server version using: trytond --version17:49
DocMorspokoli, thanks again. I'm afraid you are right and I now have multiple different version all over the place. I'm going wipe this machine and start from scratch. Which version would you advise to go with. I'm totally blank so I don't need to respect any propriatry stuff17:51
DocMorsbut I'm curious. where do I find the 5.8 client17:52
DocMorsOK I have the feeling this ERP is not made for running under linux really17:56
DocMorsand it would be greatly appreciated if someone could point to a tested installation guide. There are quite a few but I don't know which one to trust.18:07
cedkDocMors: the procedure is documented in https://docs.tryton.org/projects/server/en/latest/#first-steps18:34
cedkthe installation follow Python standard18:34
cedkyou must start familiarize with pip (and its drawbacks)18:34
cedkor you should use easy to use Docker image like https://discuss.tryton.org/t/how-to-run-tryton-using-docker/320018:35
DocMorsCedric that's that page with the to broken links. That is why I asked!19:11
DocMorstwo not to19:38
-!- nicoe(~nicoe@2a02:578:852a:c00:7e2a:31ff:fe5e:b25d) has joined #tryton20:59
cedkDocMors: the links are not important as they are for former Python tools21:07
DocMorscedk, and where is the installation guide?21:31
cedkhttps://docs.tryton.org/projects/server/en/latest/#first-steps21:34
-!- DocMors(~DocMors@web.crypticity.net) has left #tryton21:38
cedkbut as I said installing from source requires some knowledge of Python package installation21:45
cedkhttps://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/ is a good starting point to learn21:45
cedkotherwise prefer distribution packages (if it exists) or Docker image21:46
