2010-12-14 00:43 <udono> plantian: AFAIK the context is only valid for the given transaction. Think of multi user / concurrency
2010-12-14 00:45 <udono> plantian: but I guess it does not answer your question ;-)
2010-12-14 00:46 <plantian> udono: Ha yeah, I think maybe its just for shorter code but I wanted to make sure, it seems excessive here.
2010-12-14 00:47 <udono> plantian: It is new since version 1.8, so maybe you find a more comfortable way
2010-12-14 00:47 <udono> ACTION goto bed
2010-12-14 00:48 <plantian> udono: yeah I'm trying to upgrade, thanks, I'll ttyl

2010-12-14 10:22 <kaerteric> Is it possible to retrieve the chosen filename in the setterfunction of binary fields? I would like to have a reference to the file instead of the content of the file.
2010-12-14 10:23 <cedk> kaerteric: this is strange design
2010-12-14 10:24 <bechamel> kaerteric: by reference you mean the name of the file ?
2010-12-14 10:25 <predatell> I would like to see the translation of the official site in Russian language
2010-12-14 10:27 <predatell> What do I do for this?

2010-12-14 10:33 <cedk> kaerteric: for now, it is not possible to get the filename in other way than adding a Char field to let the user type it
2010-12-14 10:39 <kaerteric> cedk: do you believe it is possible to add the desired functionality? Asking the user to type in path and filename is not done.
2010-12-14 10:40 <predatell> cedk: yes, I read. ID of issue 1785
2010-12-14 10:41 <cedk> kaerteric: I think we could manage an event on binary field to update an other Char field with the name of the selected file

2010-12-14 17:25 <bechamel> cedk: no, why ?
2010-12-14 17:27 <cedk> bechamel: I was thinking about the possibility to write a web client with py2js and ExtJS
2010-12-14 17:27 <cedk> http://mattpap.github.com/py2js/html/index.html
2010-12-14 17:29 <bechamel> cedk: IMO javascript as some weirdness but is overall a good langage, so using convertion tools like this brings more problem than solutions

2010-12-14 17:49 <cedk> bechamel: yes but we could perhaps reuse proteus

2010-12-14 19:30 <elbenfreund> hi :)
2010-12-14 19:31 <plantian> hello
2010-12-14 19:34 <elbenfreund> i am just about to make my first steps with tryton, after some basic experience with openERP.

2010-12-14 19:35 <elbenfreund> my main application is some kind of club-management as was disscussed in 2009 if i read the list archives right...
2010-12-14 19:39 <elbenfreund> am i right that there hasn't been any further progress so far? and would anyone around be interested in picking up the issue..?
2010-12-14 19:39 <elbenfreund> ACTION congratz everyone involved to the recent 1.8 release
2010-12-14 19:40 -!- chrue(~chrue@host-091-097-024-187.ewe-ip-backbone.de) has joined #tryton
2010-12-14 19:40 <plantian> elbenfreund: I am not a core developer, just a tryton user. Did you mean the IRC log or google group mailing lists? I must have missed the discussion.
2010-12-14 19:41 <elbenfreund> i think i found two reference, one beeing a IRC-log: http://www.tryton.org/~irclog/de/2009-05-11.log.html
2010-12-14 19:41 <elbenfreund> german though...
2010-12-14 19:44 <elbenfreund> one major idea was to implement club-management under the wings of a more general (recouring) contrags-management funktionality
2010-12-14 19:44 <elbenfreund> contractd
2010-12-14 19:44 <elbenfreund> contracts
2010-12-14 19:47 <plantian> elbenfreund: Oh yeah, sorry, regretfully I only speak English. Recurring payments you mean ?
2010-12-14 19:48 <elbenfreund> hm, i think/fear its more complicated than this.
2010-12-14 19:48 <elbenfreund> the aim would be to dynamicly create a new "product/service" for each subscription period
2010-12-14 19:48 <elbenfreund> an invoice all subscibed partners
2010-12-14 19:49 <elbenfreund> so one is left only with reconciling subscription fees and follow ups
2010-12-14 19:50 <elbenfreund> well i guess i will look for a first work around as soon as my basic modules are set up
2010-12-14 19:50 <elbenfreund> and wonder about hacking a new module sometime later.. :)
2010-12-14 19:52 <plantian> elbenfreund: I have made modules to extend the core modules myself and it is not too hard. There is a learning curve though. Some other developers might have experience with the periodic subscriptions though, I do not. You might try waiting here for others to come by and join the discussion or also try the mailing list for tips on the best way to model it in Tryton.
2010-12-14 19:53 <elbenfreund> jep
2010-12-14 19:54 <plantian> There is a product type for "service" though.
2010-12-14 19:55 <elbenfreund> im rather sure i will stick around for quite some time ... although i'm realy put of by the use of google-groups...
2010-12-14 19:55 <plantian> Oh, why is that ?
2010-12-14 19:57 <plantian> I've heard other people complain about it in other projects but it seems to work fine here, I just get mail into gmail.
2010-12-14 19:58 <elbenfreund> because one subscribes not only to some random mailman-list but to a full-fledged google-account. something that gives me goosebumps
2010-12-14 19:59 <elbenfreund> well, off to basic data entry now... :) hope to see you around later on.
2010-12-14 20:00 <plantian> elbenfreund: Oh yeah I guess that is something I had not though about because I have had a google account for a while. It takes time off maintaining a mail server though to spend on core development.
2010-12-14 20:00 <plantian> elbenfreund: Okay I will see you around.
2010-12-14 20:01 <elbenfreund> well there are plenty of free list providers around that dont raise the same suspicions as google does.
2010-12-14 20:02 <elbenfreund> but in the end its all manageble of cause.
2010-12-14 20:03 <elbenfreund> i just wonder why even developers, for which it would be no problem at all to use alternatives, bind themselfs and their users to this one particular provider...

2010-12-14 22:04 <plantian> Has anyone been able to query a Many2Many field via search()? I have been unable to get it to work and I think it might be impossible.
2010-12-14 22:04 <plantian> I upgraded to 1.8 and nothing seems to have changed.
2010-12-14 22:13 <udono> plantian: maybe you can search the intermediate model?
2010-12-14 22:15 <plantian> udono: Hmm maybe. The models look like this -- http://paste.pocoo.org/show/304929/
2010-12-14 22:16 <plantian> I was trying to do product_obj.search(['features.name', 'ilike', '%feature-name-part%']).
2010-12-14 22:17 <plantian> I also tried features.feature.name but maybe this kind of query does not make sense. I am thinking of a JOIN between products and features based on the feature's name.
2010-12-14 22:23 <udono> plantian: how do you pool product_obj?
2010-12-14 22:24 <udono> plantian: did you try with project_template_obj?
2010-12-14 22:25 <udono> plantian: ... maybe the _inherits on product.product does restrict?
2010-12-14 22:25 <plantian> Not for a while, I will try that again but then I cannot combine with regular product queries.
